Welcome to the One-Minute Sunday School Trainer

July 17, 2011

Teaching in your church’s Bible teaching ministry is an opportunity for significant Kingdom ministry. Effective leadership in the Bible teaching ministry is more than an hour of teaching a week. Effective leadership in the Bible teaching ministry springs from your calling from God and how He is working in your life. Every lesson you present filters through God’s transformative work in you.

This diagram identifies several roles that an effective Bible study leader fills in guiding Bible study and reaching people for Christ. Each week we will briefly explore some element of these roles. You can learn more about these roles in “Roles of a Sunday School Leader” linked on this page. The hope is that you will be encouraged, inspired, and equipped for significant leadership in your church’s Sunday School, small groups ministry, or whatever form the Bible teaching ministry in your church takes. As I have read in other sources, the church doesn’t need another educational program because the church is an educational program. Your service through your church’s Bible teaching ministry is really that important.

Scripture Thought:
“Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.” Titus 2:7-8 ESV

Prayer:
As you reflect on the leadership role you provide in your church’s Bible teaching ministry, ask God to help you remember your sense of calling to this work and recapture that excitement and dependency on Him you felt.
